Surrey City Council has unanimously committed to collaborating with the Province to establish the Canadians of South Asian Heritages Museum or Cultural Centre. This decision solidifies Surrey’s position as the ideal site, reflecting the city being home to the largest South Asian population in BC.

“This is a significant policy victory,” said Jasroop Gosal, Interim Spokesperson for the Surrey Board of Trade. “The Provincial Government’s engagement report affirmed what we’ve always known – Surrey is the natural home for this cultural landmark.”

The City has identified strategic locations for the centre, enhancing Surrey’s cultural leadership. Mayor Brenda Locke will now formally notify the Province of Surrey’s support for the facility.
