Surrey Council has approved a corporate report which will extend the Parking to Patio program until October 31, 2022. The corporate report originally said the extension was only to June 2022, but today a media release from the City of Surrey indicated an extension to October 31, 2022. This allows for businesses to continue to extend their dining area and allow more patrons to dine at their establishment.

“Early on in the pandemic, the Surrey Board of Trade encouraged the City of Surrey to ensure efficient application processes and cost-effective supports to allow restaurants to use parking spaces or other roadway areas to extend their floor space outside and increase their reduced capacity,” said Anita Huberman, President & CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade. “We were pleased to hear that at last night’s council meeting that the City of Surrey has decided to extend this program and continue to waive the fees for the permit.”

The program has had 42 businesses making use of the program to date.
