The Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade (SWRBOT) welcomes the announcement of nearly $26 million in federal funding, alongside the City of White Rock’s contribution of more than $4 million, to advance Phase 2 of the White Rock Pier reconstruction. This historic investment ensures one of British Columbia’s most iconic landmarks, and Canada’s longest pier, will be rebuilt to modern seismic, accessibility, and resiliency standards, securing its future for generations to come.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Government of Canada, the City of White Rock, and all partners involved for working collaboratively to make this project a reality. Investments of this scale are only possible when all orders of government come together with a shared commitment to strengthening communities, preserving important public assets, and supporting local economies.
The White Rock Pier is much more than a landmark it is the heart of our waterfront, and the foundation of White Rock’s tourism economy. Visitors from across British Columbia, Canada, and around the world come to experience the pier, waterfront, and Marine Drive every year, generating significant economic activity for local restaurants, retailers, accommodations, and tourism operators. The reconstruction of the pier represents a direct investment in the success of hundreds of local businesses that depend on a vibrant and lively waterfront.
Indra Bhan, COO, SWRBOT
As White Rock continues to grow as one of British Columbia’s premier seaside destinations, this investment will strengthen tourism, support local jobs, increase visitor spending, and reinforce the long-term economic vitality of Marine Drive and the surrounding business community.
This investment is about more than rebuilding a pier, it’s about strengthening the economic vitality of our waterfront. We’ll continue working with our partners to ensure local businesses are supported throughout construction and that White Rock emerges even stronger as one of Canada’s premier seaside destinations.
