January 10, 2022

The Provincial Government created a COVID-19 Closure Relief Grant for businesses that have been fully closed due to the December 22, 2021, Provincial Health Officer orders. It is the second week of January and this funding is still not available.

“Many businesses are operating at reduced capacity to protect the public, customers, and staff, which is eroding their bottom line,” said Anita Huberman, President & CEO, Surrey Board of Trade. “Businesses are waiting for the grant application portal to open and for funds to be immediately disbursed. Further, there are other businesses in our membership that are not eligible for any grants or funding even though they are suffering as a result of pandemic restrictions. The BC Government needs to broaden the eligibility list.”

The Surrey Board of Trade asks the BC Government to open a communication portal for businesses that have questions or need help.
