– New Requirement to Wear a Mask on TransLink Services August 24

Beginning Monday, August 24, TransLink will require customers to wear non-medical masks or face coverings while on board transit vehicles. Customers who are unable to wear face coverings due to an underlying medical condition or disability will be exempt from this policy and won’t be asked to wear a mask or face covering.

“We need to work together to ensure public safety,” said Anita Huberman, CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade. “Restoring confidence in public transit will be paramount to effective economic recovery in BC. We need strong and reliable public transportation infrastructure in order to get our workforce moving again.

“Economic recovery can only occur when everyone does their part to ensure that the curve remains flattened. That means wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible and abiding by other provincial health mandates. We can get through this pandemic together – if everyone just does what is needed.”
