For more than 26 years, the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade has celebrated the outstanding achievements of our business community. The Business Excellence Awards highlight the innovation, determination, and leadership that make Surrey and White Rock great places to live, learn, and work.

Each year, nominees and finalists represent a diverse range of organizations — from small businesses and large enterprises to not-for-profits and community leaders. These businesses and individuals have reached unique points of success. They are trendsetters, visionaries, and builders of a thriving local economy.

The evening features inspiring video presentations that share the stories behind their success. Whether it’s an entrepreneur transforming an idea into a growing business, a not-for-profit driving meaningful change, or a business leader setting the pace in their industry, these award recipients motivate us all to pursue our dreams.

Sample Financial Health Letter

Full-Time Equivalent Calculation

To calculate the full-time equivalent (FTE) of your workers:
Take the average number of hours worked/billed per week and divide it by 40 (number of full-time hours). Add together all FTEs to determine the number of FTE staff/contractors.
EXAMPLE
Example of a company that employs/contracts 15 people, but the FTE is 11:
  • Five 40 hour workers = FTE of 1.0 x 5 = 5.0
  • Six 30 hour workers = FTE of 0.75 x 6 = 4.5
  • Four 15 hour workers = FTE of 0.375 x 4 = 1.5

Total Full-Time Equivalent workers = 11

This chart will assist you in determining the FTE of each of your workers.
